Have you ever wished you could replicate the same experience you get at the gym in the comfort of your own home? Albeit without several other sweating guys and girls working out alongside you, there has never been a better time than the present for this. Especially as Precor, who have always been at the forefront of the exercise equipment industry, have been producing affordable gym-quality machinery for use in your own home.
Machinery just like the Precor EFX 225 elliptical fitness crosstrainer. We appreciate that there are a lot of different Precor models available out there, so you may find it difficult to choose one over the other. To help you out, therefore, we are going to highlight the features that make this EFX 225 worth investing in.
Obviously, the main aim when using exercise equipment like an elliptical trainer is to work out. But, working out will mean something different for everyone, really. For instance, if you are just a retiree looking to keep yourself in good shape, your exercise demands will not be nearly as intense as someone who regularly likes to push themselves.
So, when you are looking at the features of elliptical trainers, you need to keep that in mind. Fortunately, Precor know this only too well and design their products to suit all users. Thanks to the inclusion of patented tech like the CrossRamp and adjustable resistance settings, you can tailor your experience with the EFX 225 to suit your goals and needs.
Motorized Variable CrossRamp
While many of the most cutting-edge Precor machines make use of the renowned CrossRamp technology, this feature is utilized in two different forms, depending on the equipment. While some have the manual adjustable CrossRamp, others, like the EFX 225 benefit from a motorized version.
What difference does it make? Well, on models with the manual option, you need to get off the equipment and select the CrossRamp elevation and stride height you want, normally from three options. With the EFX 225 and others featuring the motorized variety, however, you can switch between a varied number of stride heights and elevations between 15 and 25-degrees.
It just makes it easier to switch things up.
5-inch High-Contrast LCD Display Console
Obviously, the central hub for any exercise machine is the display console. Not only is this the place where most of the main controls are found, but it is also the place where you can see the results of your workouts as they happen. The EFX 225 is no different and benefits from an attractive and easy to read high-contrast LCD screen on the console.
What’s more, as this is a cross trainer with the variable motorized version of CrossRamp, you can quickly and easily select the elevation and stride height you require without stepping off the machine. As the only way you are going to know if you are really progressing or not is by the metrics of your workout, you can view 13 different numbers related to your sessions on this display.
Compared to others, it’s a little on the simplistic side. However, it does benefit from a Super Grip tablet and mobile phone holder that means you can watch your favorite shows or follow a motivating workout without having to crank your neck to watch the TV.
Adjustable Resistance Settings and Preprogrammed Workouts
We review quite a lot of exercise equipment while working on this site and one thing that tends to differentiate one model from the next is the level of adjustability they offer.
When it comes to the EFX 225, then, we are happy to say that it offers a wide degree of versatility, on top of that already offered by the CrossRamp options. You get 16 different levels of digital resistance to make workouts as intense or easy-going as you require.
Additionally, though, when you’re not fussed about messing with settings, there’s the preset programs. There are 13 to choose from.
- Motorized Variable CrossRamp
- Moving handlebars for full-body workout
- Adjustable digital resistance and preset workouts
- May be too bulky for some households
Precor recommends to clean the EFX before and after using it, to remove any dust, water, dirt or swear that could impact its low friction operation. Just use a mild soap and water to dampen a soft cloth and wipe all exposed surfaces. There is no need to use any lubricating products on the EFX 225.
Before starting the trainer for the first time it is recommended to read all the instructions in the user manual. It has several guidelines on how to use the machine, console and several safety instructions to better use the machine
Weight Loss, Crosstrainer, Basic Heart Rate, Control Manual, Aerobic, Hill Climb, Cross Country, Gluteal
There’s not a lot of negatives we can highlight when it comes to the Precor EFX 225. It is built into a sturdy frame and offers features and settings aplenty to keep your workouts exciting and challenging. Although it’s not for those looking for budget-friendly options, the high return on your investment is very apparent when you start using it.
